San Fernando is primarily a seaport, used mostly by the Spanish Navy. Located in the province of Cadiz, the island was formerly known as the 'Isla de Leon', a small rocky island surrounded by salt marches and governed by a captaingeneral. The town is also well connected to the city of Cadiz via a useful tram system.
In San Fernando, there are many government buildings like naval workshops, a naval academy a hospital and an observatory, aswell as a charming bullring and an authentic andalucian square, all in a beautiful sea side location. San Fernando also manufacture spirits, leather, fabrics, soap, hats, sails and ropes aswell as being home to a large iron foundary.
