Tarifa or the ‘Windy city’ forms the southern most point in Europe, with Africa just 8 miles away. The weather is probably what tarifa is most famous for, with strong winds blowing throughout the year, making tarifa a windsurfers and surfers paradise and is actually one of the most famous destinations for windsurfers in the world. 
If you are the adventurous type, Tarifa is the place to go, sports like water sports, horse riding, hand gliding, kite surfing, rock climbing and diving, or even exploring the countryside or taking trips to Morocco to name a few.
Tarifa also has an amasing 38 kilometers of shallow, golden beaches, with beaches like Lances Beach have been declared a place of natural beauty. On the hills of Tarifa, is also one of the largest windfarms in Europe, feeding most of the Area with the power that they generate.
Tarifa Town was the point of attack in the Moorish invasion of Southern spain in AD 711. You can still see the signs of the Arab occupation with the narrow winding streets and the architecture styles. Guzman el Bueno also defended Tarifa against the Moorish invasion in 1925. Tarifa is a very traditional city with customary narrow streets and wrought iron rajas, most of the remaining city was built during the 18th Century. Now, you will find lots of Tapas Bars, Surf Shops
